CMS Content Management Guide
(Rocketsites Editor / Page Content Editing)
Overview
This guide explains how to edit and manage website content within the CMS. The editor functions similarly to a word processor, allowing you to update text, format content, add images, and manage links directly on the page.
All edits are made within content regions, which are visually marked and editable once you enter edit mode.
Accessing the Page Editor
- Log into your website.
- Navigate to the page you want to edit.
- Click the “Edit Page” button at the top of the navigation.
Once activated, editable areas will appear with numbered circles, indicating content regions you can modify.
Editing Text Content
Basic Editing
- Click inside any content region to begin editing.
- Start typing to modify or replace content.
- The editor behaves like a standard word processor.
Text Formatting Options
Use the toolbar to format content:
- Bold / Italic / Underline
- Font Size (up to 72pt)
- Text Color
- Use preset colors or paste a HEX code
- Alignment
- Left, center, right, or justified
Headings (Important for SEO)
- Use the Heading dropdown to structure content.
- The system includes pre-configured heading styles (H1–H6).
- Headings improve:
- SEO structure
- Readability
- Page hierarchy
Best Practice:
- Use headings to break up sections logically.
- Avoid overusing or skipping hierarchy levels.
Lists and Structure
Ordered Lists (Numbered)
- Click the numbered list icon.
- Press Enter to create additional list items.
Unordered Lists (Bullets)
- Click the bullet list icon.
- Automatically formats content into bullet points.
Indentation
- Use Indent / Outdent to adjust list hierarchy.
Links
Adding a Link
- Highlight the text.
- Click the Link icon.
- Paste the URL OR:
- Click Browse Server to link to a file (PDF, document, etc.)
- Click OK
Removing a Link
- Highlight the linked text.
- Click the Remove Link (X) button.
Uploading & Linking Files
- Click Browse Server in the link tool.
- The File Manager (Roxy) will open.
- Click Add File
- Upload from your computer.
- Select the file → Click Select
Adding Images
Insert an Image
- Click the Image icon in the toolbar.
- Click Browse Server
- Upload or select an existing image
- Click Select
Image Sizing (Critical for Mobile)
- Use percentage-based sizing (recommended)
- Example:
50%width
- Example:
- Avoid fixed pixel sizes
Why this matters:
- Percentage sizing allows images to scale properly across:
- Mobile
- Tablets
- Desktop
Example:
- 50% = half the content width
- 25% = smaller, more compact image
Text Positioning & Advanced Formatting
- Alignment tools control text positioning
- Subscript / Superscript available for:
- Formulas
- Scientific notation
Tables (Use with Caution)
Tables are available but not recommended due to poor mobile responsiveness.
If You Must Use Tables:
- Click the Table icon
- Set:
- Number of rows
- Number of columns
- Use percentage width (100%) for responsiveness
Editing Tables
- Right-click inside the table to:
- Add/remove rows
- Add/remove columns
- Edit cells
- Access table properties
Pasting Content (VERY IMPORTANT)
When copying content from external sources:
- Always paste as plain text
- Mac shortcut:
Command + Shift + V
Why:
- Prevents formatting issues
- Avoids broken styling
- Keeps CMS clean and consistent
Saving & Previewing Changes
Required Workflow
- Click Save Page
- Then click Preview
If you do NOT save:
- All changes will be lost when leaving the page
