Website Alert Header Module Guide

(Global Banner & Popup Alerts)

Overview

The Website Alert Header Module allows you to display important messages across your entire website. This can include:

  • Announcements
  • Promotions
  • Emergency notices
  • Updates for visitors

Alerts can appear as:

  • A banner at the top of every page
  • A one-time popup (dialog box)
  • Or both

Accessing the Alert Module

  1. Log into your website dashboard
  2. Click Dashboard
  3. Navigate to Appearance
  4. Select Website Alert Header

This will open the alert configuration panel.

Enabling or Disabling the Alert

At the top of the module, there is a toggle button.

  • Dark purple = Alert is ON (active)
  • Light / inactive = Alert is OFF

To Activate:

  • Click the toggle until it turns dark purple

To Deactivate:

  • Click again to turn it off

Adding Alert Content

Below the toggle is a text area field.

How to Use:

  • Enter the message you want displayed across the site
  • This content will appear:
    • In the banner
    • In the popup (if enabled)

Best Practices:

  • Keep messaging short and clear
  • Focus on one main message
  • Avoid long paragraphs

Display Options

You can control how the alert appears using the available display settings.

Option 1: Top Banner Only

  • Displays a message across the top of every page
  • Best for:
    • Ongoing announcements
    • Promotions
    • General notices

Option 2: Dialog Box (Popup) Only

  • Displays a popup when a user first visits the site
  • Shows one time per session
  • Best for:
    • Important updates
    • Time-sensitive alerts
    • Required user awareness

Option 3: Banner + Dialog Box (Recommended for High Priority)

  • Shows:
    • A popup on first visit
    • A persistent banner afterward
  • Best for:
    • Critical announcements
    • Major updates
    • Urgent notices

Adding a Button & Link (Optional)

You can enhance the alert with a clickable button.

Steps:

  1. Enable the link/button option
  2. Enter the destination URL
  3. Add custom button text

Example Uses:

  • “Learn More”
  • “View Details”
  • “Contact Us”
  • “Get Started”

Best Practices:

  • Use action-oriented text
  • Keep it short (2–4 words)
  • Ensure the link is relevant to the alert

Where the Alert Appears

Depending on your settings:

  • Banner:
    Appears at the top of every page site-wide
  • Popup (Dialog):
    Appears once when a user first visits the site
